Honor is gearing up to launch its next-generation foldable smartphone, with new details emerging about its specifications and design. Honor’s Flagship Mobile Phone Product Manager, Li Kun, recently addressed speculation about potential compromises in performance, confirming that the upcoming foldable will feature a fully equipped chipset with no reductions in processing power.
Honor Magic V4 first details emerge
A Weibo user speculated that the Honor Magic V4 might also adopt the 7-core Snapdragon 8 Elite chip to optimize power efficiency and heat dissipation. For those who are not aware, this version of the chip has one less core as compared to the Snapdragon 8 Elite’s regular versions that has 8 cores. The recently unveiled Oppo Find N5 has a 7-core Snapdragon 8 Elite chip onboard.
In response, Li Kun directly stated that the company’s next-generation foldable would use the “full-blooded” version of the chipset, reaffirming that Honor would not compromise on performance despite the ultra-thin design. This statement suggests that the Magic V4 will come equipped with the regular 8-core version of the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip.
Like the Honor Magic V3, the Magic V4 is expected to sport an ultra-thin design. Speculations suggest that it may measure around 8.9mm in the folded state, making it one of the slimmest foldables in the market. To achieve this, the device is expected to incorporate a titanium alloy hinge and an ultra-thin ceramic composite frame, ensuring durability without adding bulk. Li Kun has emphasized that the Magic V4’s slim profile must be the best in the industry, setting high expectations for the launch.
Beyond its design, the Honor Magic V4 is expected to pack a substantial 6000mAh silicon-carbon battery, marking a significant upgrade from the 5150mAh battery in the Magic V3. Additionally, it is said to support 5G-A connectivity and satellite communication, along with an improved camera system featuring a periscope telephoto lens. As far as launch is concerned, a recent leak by tipster Digital Chat Station revealed that it will debut in June.
