In recent months, Honor has announced quite a number of prominent smartphones ranging from the entry-level segment all the way to the premium flagship segment. That however, doesn’t stops the company from introducing another pair of attractive smartphones today – Honor Play 4 and Play 4 Pro.
Honor Play 4
Among the pair, the Honor Play 4 will be the more affordable model. This device packs a pretty standard-looking hole-punch display at the front which measures approximately 6.81-inches diagonally and boast a FHD+ screen resolution.
Over at the back, we will see a familiar camera module which reminds us of the recently announced Honor 30 series. The four cameras at the back consist of a 64 megapixels main camera, 8 megapixels ultra-wide lens, 2 megapixels macro camera, as well as a 2 megapixels depth sensor. This will be completed with a 16 megapixels seldom camera at the front.
Under the hood, the Honor Play 4 is driven by an octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 800 SoC coupled with up to 8GB of RAM and 128GB onboard storage. As expected, the Honor Play 4 will be able to support 5G connectivity in both standalone (SA) and non-standalone (NSA) modes.
To keep it’s lights on, there will be a respectable 4,300mAh battery at the helm which comes with 22.5W fast-charging support. As usual, the device will run on the custom Magic UI 3.1 based on Android 10 (AOSP version).
In terms of pricing, the Honor Play 4 will be priced at 1,799 Yuan (US$253) and 1,999 Yuan (US$281) respectively for it’s 6GB+128GB and 8GB+128GB models.
Honor Play 4 Pro
The Honor Play 4 Pro will be a buffed up model as expected. It will feature a slightly smaller 6.57-inches LCD display which boasts the same FHD+ screen resolution. The device arrives with a dual hole-punch cutout which play host to a 32 megapixels main camera and an 8 megapixels ultra-wide lens for selfies and video calls.
Over on the flip-side, the Honor Play 4 Pro feature a powerful dual-cameras system that includes a 40 megapixels Sony IMX600 RYYB main camera as well as an 8 megapixels telephoto lens capable of delivering up to 3x optical zoom and 30x digital zoom.
Coming to its internals, the Honor Play 4 Pro is powered by the company’s Kirin 990 SoC with 5G connectivity. This will be accompanied with 8GB of RAM and 128GB onboard storage.
The device will be fueled by a 4,200mAh battery which carries support for 40W fast-charging. It will also run on the latest Magic UI 3.1 based on Android 10 (AOSP version).
What’s interesting is that the Honor Play 4 Pro will be available in two different models with similar memory configurations of 8GB+128GB. However, one of the models will come with support for IR temperature sensor.
For those who’re interested, the model without IR temperature sensor will be priced at 2,899 Yuan (US$407), while the model with IR temperature sensor will set you back with 2,999 Yuan (US$421).
