Last month, a leaked render of the upcoming Honor Play5 had appeared online. It was followed by another leak, which revealed its key specifications. These leaks suggested that the phone may go official in May. Today, the company released an official confirmation that the Honor Play5 will debut at 7:30 PM (local time) on May 18 in China.
The launch poster released by the brand has revealed the front and rear design of the Honor Play 5. The poster revealed that the smartphone will be sporting a teardrop notch on the front. Surprisingly, the rear design of the Play5, which can be seen in the official poster is different from the previously seen render.
The back panel of the phone shows that it is equipped with a square-shaped camera module, which houses four cameras and an LED flash in the center. It seems that the fingerprint scanner of the phone is embedded under the phone’s display.
Honor Play5 Specifications (Rumored)
A recent leak revealed that the Honor Play5 will be sporting a 6.53-inch OLED screen that delivers a Full HD+ resolution. The Dimensity 800U chipset is present under the hood of the device.
There is no word on the front camera of the phone. Its rear camera setup of the phone is expected to feature a 64-megapixel main camera, an 8-megapixel secondary lens, and two 2-megapixel snappers. The handset will be drawing power from a 3,800mAh battery, which may carry support for 66W rapid charging.
The Play5 has a slim profile of only 7.46mm and weighs 179 grams. There is no information available on the pricing of the smartphone.
