After much delay, Honor has finally announced the much anticipated Honor V40 – the company’s first smartphone after its independence from Huawei.
Although the Honor V series is traditionally equipped with high-end Kirin chipsets, but its recent independence had seen the company utilizing MediaTek’s flagship Dimensity 1000+ chipset instead. That’s the same chip which is also found in several notable smartphones including the new OPPO Reno5 Pro 5G.
Starting with the front, the Honor V40 sports a vibrant 6.72-inches OLED display that offers a smooth 120Hz refresh rate, 300Hz touch sampling rate, as well as support for DCI-P3 color gamut and 10-bits color depth. Other than that, it also comes with an in-display fingerprint scanner and a 16 megapixels clicker upfront for selfie and video-calling purposes.
Over on the rear side, the device has a rectangular camera island which is home to a triple-camera setup lead by a 50 megapixels (f/1.56 aperture) RYYB primary shooter which promises exceptional low-light performance. It will be assisted by 8 megapixels ultra-wide camera as well as 2 megapixels macro camera for close-up shots.
As mentioned earlier, the Honor V40 will be powered by an octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 1000+ chipset capable of supporting both standalone (SA) and non-standalone (NSA) 5G modes. It will be paired with 8GB RAM and up to 256GB onboard storage in the memory department.
Keeping its lights on is a respectable 4,000mAh battery which comes support for 66W fast wired charging which is capable of fueling the device from 0 to 60% within a short span of just 15 minutes. On the software-side, it will be shipped with the latest Magic UI 4.0 based on Android 10.
If you’re interested, the Honor V40 is available in both 8GB+128GB and 8GB+256GB memory configurations which are priced at 3,599 Yuan (US$556) and 3,999 Yuan (US$618) respectively.
