It’s mid-2020 and HTC is finally making a comeback with a pair of mid-ranger smartphones – HTC U20 5G and HTC Desire 20 Pro. These devices feature an up-to-date design which is accompanied by some pretty standard specs which are common among most mid-ranger smartphones in the market.
HTC U20 5G
Among the duo, the HTC U20 5G will be the higher-end model with more exciting specs. The devices packs a huge 6.8-inches LCD display which boasts a FHD+ screen resolution and a nice 20:9 tall aspect ratio.
In the imaging department, the HTC U20 5G will sport a quad-cameras setup at the back consisting of a 48 megapixels (f/1.8) main camera, 8 megapixels (f/2.2) ultra-wide lens, 2 megapixels (f/2.4) macro camera, as well as a 2 megapixels (f/2.4) depth sensor. This will be paired with a 32 megapixels (f/2.0) selfie camera at the front.
Under the hood, the HTC U20 5G will be backed by an octa-core Snapdragon 765G SoC with 5G connectivity. It will be assisted by 8GB worth of RAM and a hefty 256GB storage capacity which could be further expanded via a microSD card. Other than that, other notable features include its rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, as well as support for Bluetooth 5, Dual-frequency GPS and NFC connectivity.
The HTC U20 5G will be fueled by a massive 5,000mAh battery which carries support for 18W Quick Charge 4.0 technology. On the software-side, it will be shipped by Android 10 OS out of the box.
In terms of pricing, the HTC U20 5G will be priced at NT$18,900 (US$640) for its sole 8GB+256GB model.
HTC Desire 20 Pro
Moving on, the HTC Desire 20 Pro will be a more affordable model with slightly watered-down specs. This device packs a 6.5-inches FHD+ LCD display at the front along with a decent 25 megapixels selfie camera.
Over at the back, it will be touting a similar quad-cameras system which include a 48 megapixels (f/1.8) main camera, 8 megapixels (f/2.2) ultra-wide lens, 2 megapixels (f/2.4) macro camera, as well as a 2 megapixels (f/2.4) depth sensor.
At the helm, the Desire 20 Pro will be powered by a toned-down Snapdragon 665 SoC coupled with 6GB of RAM and 128GB onboard storage. As usual, it will also come with a dedicated microSD slot for memory expansion.
Just like the HTC U20 5G, the Desire 20 Pro also has a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. However, what’s notable is that the device will come with a 3.5mm headphone jack which is missing on the U20 5G.
In terms of connectivity, it is also able to support Bluetooth 5, Dual-frequency GPS and NFC connectivity. At the heart of the device, the device is also fitted with a 5,000mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0.
In Taiwan, the HTC Desire 20 Pro will be priced at NT$8,990 (US$303) for its sole 6GB+128GB model.
