HTC Wildfire R70 goes official with entry-level specs

After a long wait, HTC has finally announced their first smartphone of the year today. Although most smartphone makers preferred to start off the year with a brand new flagship, but HTC opted for the opposite.

Their new smartphone, known as HTC Wildfire R70, is an entry-level smartphone which will soon be making it’s way to India and Thailand.

In terms of design, the HTC Wildfire R70 employed a traditional dewdrop-notch display with relatively thin bezels along it’s two sides. It’s front display measures 6.53-inches diagonally and has a HD+ screen resolution and a nice 19.5:9 tall aspect ratio.

Under the hood, it is driven by a mediocre MediaTek’s Helio P23 SoC paired with 2GB of RAM and 32GB onboard storage space which is expandable by up to 256GB via a dedicated microSD slot.

At the rear, it’s vertical camera module houses a total of three cameras including a 16 megapixels main shooter, a 2 megapixels macro camera, as well as a 2 megapixels depth sensor. At the front, there will also be an 8 megapixels selfie camera.

To keep it’s cost low, the HTC Wildfire R70 will feature a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor for security. The device will be fueled by a mammoth 4,000mAh battery with no fast-charging support.

Software-wise, it will run on Android Pie OS, instead of the latest Android 10 OS. For those who’re interested, the HTC Wildfire R70 will be available in two color options namely Aurora Blue and Night Black.

At current stage, there is still no words on it’s official pricing and availability. However, it will certainly be an onerous task for this device to compete with other budget smartphones from Redmi and Realme which offers better specs at the same price range.
