Huawei Mate 70 launch reportedly postponed to Q4 2024

Huawei has reportedly postponed the launch of the Mate 70 series of flagship phones, according to a new Weibo post by reliable leaker Digital Chat Station. Earlier this year, speculation suggested that the Nova 13 series of smartphones would make their debut in the second quarter of 2024. However, reports suggest that the company has delayed its launch to August of this year. To recall, the company launched the Mate 60 series of smartphones in August and September last year. It appears that the Nova 13 series’ delayed arrival may have resulted in the Mate 70 lineup being postponed.

According to DCS, the Huawei Mate 70 series is expected to debut in China in mid- or late Q4 of this year. Huawei’s in-house Kirin chipsets will equip this lineup, positioning it to compete with flagship phones from other Chinese brands expected to feature the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 and Dimensity 9400 chipsets.

The leaker revealed that apart from featuring a new Kirin chip, the Mate 70 lineup will feature a 1.5K LTPO OLED panel and a 50-megapixel OmniVision OV50K primary camera with variable aperture support. It will come preloaded with the HarmonyOS Next operating system.

The Mate 70 series will be powered by a large silicon battery, but the size may remain under 6,000mAh. He also mentioned in the comments section of the post that the lineup will continue to support 3D face scanning.

In related news, Huawei is also working on a tri-foldable smartphone equipped with dual hinge technology and a Kirin 9-series chipset. It is likely that the device may break cover in Q1 next year.
