Several reports have claimed that Huawei will be announcing a new foldable phone in China this month. Today, it released an official confirmation that it will be holding a launch event at 7 PM (local time) on April 28. The poster released by the brand hints at the design of the device. Leaked shots shared by a Chinese tipster reveal that the Huawei Mate Xs 2 will sport an outward folding design.
The original Huawei Mate X and Mate Xs foldable phones debuted with an outward-folding design in the past. However, Huawei’s recent foldable phones, such as the Mate X2 and Mate X2 4G, have featured an in-ward folding design. The official poster released by the brand today hints at the in-ward folding design for the Mate Xs 2.
A Chinese tipster has shared the following images and key details of the Huawei Mate Xs 2. He claims that it will be light and thin device with a flat design. It will come in black, white, and purple colors. The screen will be equipped with multiple buffer layers, which will improve its durability against drops. He even claims that the Mate Xs 2 will be dropped tested at the company’s launch event.
While some leaks have claimed that the Huawei Mate Xs 2 is equipped with either the Snapdragon 888 4G or Kirin 9000 4G chipset, the tipster claims it is still unclear which 4G processor will be present under the hood of the device. The rear side of the device will have a 50-megapixel primary camera, a 13-megapixel ultrawide lens, and an 8-megapixel telephoto camera.
The device has been reportedly spotted at TENAA and 3C certification sites. These listings have revealed that the device will run on HarmonyOS 2.0.1 and have a 4,500mAh battery. It may also carry support for 66W fast charging.
