Huawei MatePad Pro Launched with Punch-Hole Display and Kirin 990; Specifications, Features and Price

Huawei has taken off covers from the MatePad Pro flagship tablet. The slate manages to impress with its marvelous punch-hole display. The tablet carries support for fast wireless charging technology for its huge battery and it is fueled by Kirin 990.

Huawei MatePad Pro Specifications and Features

The MatePad Pro has a 10.8-inch IPS LCD display with punch-hole for its 8-megapixel selfie camera. The display produces 2560 x 1600 pixels quad HD+ resolution. Thanks to 4.9mm ultra-thin bezels around the display, tablet offers 90 percent screen space.

The MatePad Pro comes in Wi-Fi only and 4G LTE editions. The Kirin 990 7nm chipset is the driving force of the device. It is coupled with 8 GB of RAM and up to 512 GB of native storage. There is an external nanoSD card slot on the device. The 7,250mAh battery of the device comes with support for 40W fast charging, but is shipped with 20W fast charging. It also equipped with 15W wireless charging and 7.5W reverse wireless charging.

The EMUI 10 skinned Android 10 OS comes preloaded on the device. The multi-screen collaboration featured can be used to clone the phone’s interface on the tablet for transferring files conveniently, receiving phone calls and responding to messages. Attaching the optional keyboard to the device will let users use it in a desktop PC mode.

There is a 13-megapixel camera on the backside of the MatePad Pro. There is an optional M-Pencil stylus that 4096-level pressure sensitivity. It can be charged wirelessly by attaching it to the slate. The device lacks a 3.5mm audio jack and a fingerprint reader. The Histen 6.0 audio technology lets the MatePad Pro produce surround sound output.

Huawei MatePad Pro Pricing and Release Date

Danxia Orange, Castle Peak, Fritillaria White and Night Ash are the color variants of the Huawei MatePad Pro. Its sales will begin on Dec. 12.

The slate is priced as follows:

  • 6 GB RAM + 128 GB storage– 3,299 Yuan ($469) for Wi-Fi only, 3,799 Yuan ($540) for LTE
  • 8 GB RAM + 256 GB storage – 3,399 Yuan (~484) for Wi-Fi only, 4,499 Yuan ($569) for LTE
  • 8 GB RAM + 256 GB storage M-Pencil + magnetic keyboard combo (Wi-Fi only) – 4,999 Yuan ($711)
  • 8 GB RAM + 512 GB storage M-Pencil + magnetic keyboard combo (LTE) – 5,999 Yuan ($853)

Huawei confirmed that the MatePad Pro 5G edition will be introduced early in 2020. Hopefully, it will be announced alongside the Huawei P40 and P40 Pro handsets.
