Huawei mobile phone hipment surged by 35% – catching up with iPhone on a large scale

Neil Mawston, executive director of Strategy Analytics, added: “Samsung’s global smartphone shipments in the fourth quarter of 2018 was 69.3 million units, down from 74.4 million units in the fourth quarter of 2017. Samsung is still the world’s leading smartphone supplier, despite fierce competition from Apple, Huawei and other companies in core markets such as India, Europe, and the US. Apple’s global shipments in the fourth quarter of 2017 were 77.30 million units. In the fourth quarter of 2018, it was 65.9 million units, down 15% year-on-year. In the fourth quarter of 2018, iPhone accounted for 18% of the global smartphone market share, down from 19% a year ago.
