After launching the Huawei Nova 9 smartphones in certain markets last year, Huawei is now back with a more affordable model known as the Huawei Nova Y9a in the South African market where the phone carries an affordable la8nch price of just 6,499 ZAR (US$417).
Right off the bat, the Huawei Nova Y9a features a 6.63” IPS LCD display that offers a FHD+ screen resolution along with a standard 60Hz refresh rate. Interestingly, the phone adopts a 16MP motorized pop-up camera for selfie and video calling purposes, giving the phone an unblemished front display with an attractive screen-to-body ratio.
Around the back, it sports a circular camera module that houses a quad-camera system comprising of a 64 megapixels main camera, 8 megapixels ultra-wide camera, as well as a pair of 2 megapixels sensors for macro and depth information.
Under the hood, the Huawei Nova Y9a is powered by an octa-core MediaTek Helio G80 chipset which is paired with 8GB RAM and 128GB built-in storage which can be further expanded via a nm memory card.
To keep it’s lights on, the Nova Y9a is backed by a respectable 4,200mAh battery with 40W fast-charging support. Software-wise, the phone will be shipped with EMUI 10.1 based on Android 10 OS out of the box.
Other than that, the Nova Y9a also comes with a side-mounted fingerprint scanner as well as a 3.5mm headphone jack for wired headphones. Those who’re interested can pick the phone from three different color options such as Space Silver, Sakura Pink and Midnight Black.
