Several reports have claimed Huawei is working on the world’s first tri-foldable phone. While the name of the device is not known yet, it seems that it will not take too long for the device to go official. The reason behind it is that an image showing Huawei CEO for Consumer Business Group, Yu Richard, using the tri-foldable phone is now doing the rounds on China’s social media platforms.
In today’s Weibo post, Digital Chat Station claimed that the tri-foldable phone seen with Richard Yu matches the prototype he saw during its development. The device’s screen, as seen in the image, has a punch-hole camera in the top left corner.
According to the tipster, Huawei’s Kirin 9-series chipset will power the phone. Regarding the launch, the tipster stated that the device will make its debut prior to the Mate 70.
His previous Weibo posts reveal that the dual-hinge design of the tri-foldable phone allows for both inward and outward folding. The display is expected to be around 10 inches in size, with the crease control said to be impressively managed.
Given its unique design, it is not surprising that the tri-foldable phone will be thicker than traditional foldable phones. Moreover, it incorporates advanced technologies, making it unlikely that rivals will be able to introduce a similar device in the near future. The tipster also hinted that the phone would come with a premium price tag.
Earlier this month, Huawei launched the Nova Flip in China, and the Nova 13 series is expected to be unveiled either later this month or in September. It was initially rumored to launch in late Q2 or early Q3. However, the delayed arrival of the Nova 13 lineup has reportedly delayed the Mate 70 series until the fourth quarter of this year, suggesting that the tri-foldable phone could launch in September or October.
