Reports have revealed that Qualcomm will announce the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6, which will be the company’s first 2nm chip, in September this year. Alongside it, there will be another version of the chip, which is tentatively called the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro, which is said to have support for the more advanced LPDDR6 RAM. It appears that the OnePlus and the iQOO 16 will both be powered by the same chip.
iQOO 16 tipped to feature Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro

Well-known tipster Digital Chat Station has previously claimed that the OnePlus 16 will feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro, which has the SM8975 part number. Today, the tipster mentioned that the iQOO 16 will also be powered by the same chip.
It is not just the chipset that these phones will rival each other. Reports have claimed that the OnePlus will feature a BOE-supplied OLED panel offering a 1.5K reoslution and a 200Hz or 240Hz refresh rate. On the other hand, the iQOO 16 is said to have a flat Samsung AMOLED screen delivering a 2K resolution along with 165Hz or 185Hz refresh rate.
A recent leak revealed that the OnePlus 16 will have a 50-megapixel main camera, paired with a 50-megapixel ultra-wide lens and a Samsung HP5 200-megapixel periscope telephoto camera.
On the other hand, the iQOO 16 is said to have a 200-megapixel primary camera. It will be joined by two 50-megapixel cameras for ultra-wide and periscope telephoto cameras. Both phones are expected to debut in October and come preloaded with Android 17.
