iQOO 5 series debuts in China with Snapdragon 865 & ultra-fast charging support

The wait is over! iQOO has finally took the wrap off the company’s next-generation’s iQOO 5 series flagships which boast significant upgrades over its iQOO 3 predecessor which was launched back in February this year.

This time round, the iQOO 5 series smartphones are packed with loads of exciting features which make it almost impossible to nitpick on the device at all. Some of its key highlights of course include its buttery-smooth 120Hz refresh rate, Snapdragon 865 SoC, as well as its insane 120W fast-charging support on the “Pro” model.

Let’s start off with its front display. The iQOO 5 series phones are built around a 6.67-inches Super AMOLED display which feature a FHD+ screen resolution alongside a smooth 120Hz refresh rate and 240Hz touch sampling rate.

Other than that, the front display also supports 100% DCI-P3 color gamut, HDR10+, as well as an impressive 1,300 nits peak brightness. The only notable distinction between the iQOO 5 and 5 Pro is that the former has a flat 2.5D panel while the “Pro” model employs a 3D curved display.

Under the hood, both the iQOO 5 and 5 Pro are powered by the flagship Snapdragon 865 SoC offering up to 12GB LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB UFS 3.1 flash storage in its memory department.

Moving on to it’s camera department, both the iQOO 5 and 5 Pro have a triple-cameras system on the rear side which share the similar 50 megapixels Samsung GN1 primary shooter and a 13 megapixels ultra-wide lens.

As for the third camera, the iQOO 5 is equipped with a 13 megapixels portrait lens, while the iQOO Pro has an 8 megapixels periscope lens instead. As such, only the “Pro” model will be able to support the 60x hybrid zoom functionality. Aside from that, both devices also share a similar 16 megapixels selfie camera.

To keep its light on, the iQOO 5 Pro is fitted with a respectable 4,000mAh battery which carries support for the industry-leading 120W flash charging which is capable of delivering a full charge within 15 minutes. The vanilla iQOO 5 on the other hand, settles for a larger 4,500mAh battery but supports a slightly toned-down 55W flash charging instead.

Coming to it’s pricing, the iQOO 5 will carry a starting price of 3,998 Yuan (US$576) for it’s 8GB+128GB model, while the iQOO 5 Pro will come with a price starting from 4,998 Yuan (US$720) for it’s 8GB+256GB model.
