About the middle of last year, Essential Phone came up with the notch idea which creates a small allowance on the top display of the smartphone to house sensors like the front camera. However, this design was not recognized until it came with iPhone X late last year. Now, the front panel of LG G7, a smartphone whose nomenclature had some speculations in the past shows a minimal notch on its display. This notch houses at least four sensors including a dual front camera system and an LED flash.
In truth, the notch design is not so loved amongst Android users because it feels like an idea copied from Apple. However, over 20 Android phones currently use this design including OPPO R15, vivo X21, Huawei Nova 3e, and Huawei P20 series. Now, it appears that LG will be joining the “notch fold”. Android users disdain for the notch was evident from the recent poll by OnePlus which showed that a majority of its fans don’t want to see the notch on OnePlus 6. However, the company will still use the notch on OP6. It appears that using a notch is the easiest way for manufacturers to increase the screen-to-body ratio thus we will probably be seeing more notched smartphones this year.
The LG G7 will come with a 6-inch MLCD display. It will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor coupled with 6GB of RAM and 256GB of internal memory. As of now, not much is known about this smartphone but one of its camera sensors will be a 16MP shooter and it will have a rear fingerprint sensor.
