List of Bestselling 5G Smartphones for Global Markets Released by Counterpoint Research

Counterpoint Research has published the list of top-selling 5G phones for the month of September. In August, the list was led by Huawei P40 Pro 5G. It has now been dethroned by the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra in September. The list also includes midrange phones from OPPO and Vivo.

Out of the top 10 bestselling 5G smartphones, 7 are from China. The reason behind it is that 60 percent of the 5G market is placed in China and the remaining are brands from other markets. Previously, the bestselling 5G phones list only included flagship handsets. However, a couple of mid-range smartphones are also mentioned in the list.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra is leading the pack. With the first month of the launch, the Samsung flagship managed to dethrone the Kirin 990 chipset powered Huawei P40 Pro, putting the former market leader to the second place. The third place is occupied by Huawei Nova 7 that is driven by the Kirin 985 chipset.

The Galaxy S20 Plus is placed fourth followed by the Huawei P40. The sixth place goes to the Exynos 880 chipset powered Vivo Y70s and the OPPO Reno4 that features the Snapdragon 765G chipset is in the seventh spot. The Galaxy Note 20 is ranked eighth and the Honor 30S that is fueled by the Kirin 820 SoC is in the ninth place. Ranked at tenth, the OPPO A72 is the only Dimensity SoC powered phone in the list.

More and more 5G smartphones are releasing across the globe. In Q1, there were only 50 5G-ready phones, but at present there around 200 5G phones across the globe. The report reveals that the sales of 5G phones have increased by 300 precent in Q3 2020 as compared to Q1
