MediaTek 5G Launch Event to Take Place on November 26; May Debut Rumored MT6885 Chipset

Rumors have been claiming that MediaTek is working on a 5G chipset that has a model number of MT6885. Today, the Taiwanese company has took to Weibo that it will be holding an unveil event on Nov. 26. Rumors have it that the MediaTek MT6885 5G SoC will be unveiled at the event.

Past reports have revealed that the MediaTek MT6885 5G chipset is manufacturer with TSMC’s 7nm process. It is expected to power flagship devices. The company is also rumored to announce MT6873 5G SoC on the said date. Rumors have it that it will be aimed towards enabling 5G connectivity on upper mid-range and mid-range devices.

The MediaTek MT6885 is speculated that the SoC is equipped with ARM Cortex-A77 processor along with Mali-G77 graphics. It is expected to carry support for up 80-megapixel rear camera, and it may bring support for 4K video shooting at 60fps. The MT6873 may have its big-core replaced by Cortex A76. It could be used to power phones that are priced around 2,000 yuan ($285).
