MediaTek has unveiled a couple of new chipsets in the past few weeks. In October, the brand announced the Dimensity 9400, a flagship offering. It announced the Dimensity 8350 chip in November, and in the previous week, it took off the covers from the Dimensity 8400 SoC. New leaks, courtesy of tipster Digital Chat Station, reveal the first details of the upcoming MediaTek chips, such as the Dimensity 9355 and Dimensity 9500.
Dimensity 9350
Earlier this month, tipster DCS claimed that the upcoming MediaTek Dimensity 9350 is the biggest rival for the Snapdragon SM8735 chip, which is nothing but the Snapdragon 8s Elite that’s expected to launch in April 2025.
The tipster revealed in the above Weibo post today that we should consider the Dimensity 9350 a Plus edition of the existing Dimensity 9300+ SoC. The current engineering prototype featuring the D9350 chip has a flat display offering a 1.5K resolution and a battery of around 7,000mAh capacity.
This mysterious phone is expected to compete with OnePlus’ upcoming Snapdragon 8s Elite chip phone. In another leak (mentioned below), the tipster revealed that OnePlus will be launching three more phones powered by different chipsets, such as the Snapdragon 8 Elite, Dimensity 9400, and Dimensity 9350. The names of these phones, which could belong to the Ace series, remain unconfirmed.
Dimensity 9500
Meanwhile, MediaTek is also prepping up the Dimensity 9500. Its early specifications include a CPU architecture with two X930 cores and six A730 cores. The frequency could potentially exceed 4GHz, and it will support the SME instruction set. The chip will be manufactured using TSMC’s N3P process, promising a significant performance upgrade for this generation.
