In November, MediaTek had launched MediaTek Dimensity 1000 5G chipset. The 7nm chipset is designed to power flagship phones. Recent reports have revealed that the Taiwanese company will soon announce a 5G chipset for mid-range smartphones in the next few days. The D10000 5G SoC has a model number of MT6889 SoC whereas the 5G chipset for mid-range phones is rumored to have a model number of MT6885. Ahead of the launch of the MT6885 SoC, AnTuTu has benchmarked to reveal it performance prowess.
On AnTuTu, the MT6885 SoC has recorded an average benchmarking score of 379,839. In the CPU test, the SoC has scored 143,075 and it has recorded a score of 107,282 in the multi-core test. The chipset has scored 75,354 score in the memory test and it recorded 54,128 score in the UX test. The 379,839 is the average of the chipset’s score in CPU, GPU, memory and UX tests. As it can be seen in the screenshot, the SoC is equipped with Mali-G77 graphics. The test device on which the SoC was benchmarked is running on Android 10.
OPPO will be launching the OPPO Reno 3 series of smartphones on Dec. 26. While the Reno 3 Pro 5G will be fueled by the Snapdragon 765G, rumors have claimed that the Reno 3 will be driven by MT6885 SoC. It is also speculated that a forthcoming 2020 Galaxy A-series smartphone will also be powered by MT6885. Samsung Vietnam will be holding a launch event for its new Galaxy A phone tomorrow. Hence, there is a possibility that the MediaTek MT6885 5G chipset may debut soon.
