MediaTek has announced the MediaTek Dimensity 1000 5G chipset in China. The 4G chipset from the company had Helio branding whereas it chosen Dimensity moniker for its 5G chipsets. The Dimensity 1000 5G chipset has MT6889 model number. The new chipset has been benchmarked on AnTuTu with a very high benchmarking score.
Running on a test device with AnTuTu version 8 onboard, the MT6889 Dimensity 1000 5G has scored 511,363 score. The said score is an average of the CPU, GPU, memory and UX benchmarks tests. The device scored 161,266 in CPU test, 196,097 in GPU test, 84,463 in memory test and 69,537 in UX tests.
The MediaTek Dimensity 1000 5G is a 7nm chipset that is integrated with 5G modem. It supports dual-mode 5G and Wi-Fi 6. Devices featuring can support two 5G SIM cards simultaneously. The SoC includes four Cortex A77 cores clocking at 2.6GHz and four Cortex A55 cores working at 2.0GHz along with Mali-G77 graphics and APU 3.0 NPU unit. It supports up to 16 GB LPDDR4x RAM. With 2x carrier aggregation, the phones powered by D1000 5G can reach 4.7GPs download speeds and 2.5Gbps upload speeds. It also supports Bluetooth 5.1 and Wi-Fi 6 connectivity standards.
First phones featuring the D1000 5G SoC will be debuting by the end of this year. The U.S will be receiving D1000 5G driven phones in Q1 2020 and Europe will get them by the second half of 2020.
