Today, MediaTek confirmed that it will be announcing new Dimensity series of chipsets in China. There is a possibility that the company unleashing the successor to the Dimensity 1000+ chipset.
In November 2020, the Taiwan-based chipmaker had revealed that it will be launching a 6nm SoC with 3GHz Cortex-A78 CPU soon. Since then, the company has not revealed any other information about the chip. It is likely that the same chip may go official on Jan. 20 in China.
It can be said based on recent reports that the model number of one of the upcoming MediaTek chips could be MT6893. An unknown device codenamed “alps” was seen on AnTuTu benchmarks last month.
The listing had revealed that the MediaTek MT6893 is an octa-core processor that includes a 4 x Cortex-A78 CPU and 4 x Cortex-A55 CPU. The SoC was found to be clocking at 3GHz. The listing further revealed that the chipset has Mali-G77 GPU and carries support for LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage.
The “alps” had scored 622,409 score on AnTuTu benchmarks. At Geekbench, the same MT6893 had seemingly appeared with 4108 single-core test score and 11,204 multi-core test score. It is speculated that the MT6893 could be debuting as the Dimensity 2000. Rumors have claimed that MT6891 and MT6895 are the model numbers of the other forthcoming MediaTek chipsets.
Last year, MediaTek launched a wide range of 5G-ready Dimensity chipsets such as Dimensity 700, Dimensity 720, Dimensity 800, Dimensity 800U, Dimensity 820, and Dimensity 1000+. Hence, it is likely that that the Taiwan-based firm may launch successor editions of some of the above mentioned SoCs this year for powering the next generation 5G-enabled smartphones.
