Moto Razr 2022 to Debut as World’s First Foldable Phone with Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1

Motorola renewed its Razr series of clamshell phones by launching the Motorola Razr with a foldable screen in 2019. It was a 4G LTE device powered by the Snapdragon 710 chip. In 2020, the Lenovo-owned brand unveiled the Motorola Razr 5G with the Snapdragon 765G SoC onboard. Several leaks have claimed that the Razr 2022 will be equipped with a flagship SoC. Today, the company officially confirmed which processor will be present under the hood of the Razr 2022.

The official poster confirms that the Moto Razr 2022 is powered by the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. In fact, it will be the first-ever foldable display phone to feature the said chipset. This will allow the Razr 2022 to compete with the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4, which will debut on Aug. 10, and the upcoming clamshell device from OPPO.

In recent weeks, a Motorola phone with an XT2251-1 model number has surfaced in the database of the Geekbench benchmarking site. The listing revealed that it is powered by the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, whereas its 3C certification revealed that it may come equipped with a 33W fast charger. In all likelihood, the XT2251-1 could be the model number of the upcoming Razr 2022.
