The Moto Z2 Play has been officially announced to replace the Moto Z Play smartphone from last year. The new phone appears quite similar to the last year’s model, but comes with a slimmer chassis that has a thickness of only 5.9mm and its weight is 149 grams. The body of the Moto Z2 Play has a water-repellant nano coating.
The Moto Z2 Play has a 5.5-inch AMOLED screen that offers full HD resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels. The Snapdragon 626 chipset is present under its hood. It comes in models like 4 GB RAM / 64 GB storage and 3 GB RAM / 32 GB storage. It also features a microSD card slot.
It has a xenon flash enabled 12-megapixel camera with dual pixel PDAF and f/1.7 aperture sits on the backside of the phone. It has a frontal shooter of 5-megapixel with f/2.2 aperture. It features NFC, USB Type-C, and 3.5mm audio jack. It has a 3,000mAh battery that can offer a standby time of up to 30 hours.
It will be available in three colors like Lunar Gray, Nimbus Blue and Fine Gold. Apart from supporting last year’s Moto Mods accessories, it will also support the following new Moto Mods such as:
- the JBL SoundBoost 2 that features two 3W stereo speaker and 1,000mAh battery; Costs $79.99
- the Moto TurboPower Pack that includes a 3,490mAh battery; Costs $79.99
- the Moto GamePad which includes a 1,035mAh battery transforms Moto Z2 Play into a handheld gaming console; Costs $79.99
- and the Moto Style Shell with Wireless Charging – Costs $39.99
In the U.S., it will be sold through Verizon Wireless in July. Its unlocked will be sold through Motorola. The unlocked 64 GB model is priced at $499.
