Earlier in May, the rumor mill started predicting that the Moto Z2 Play will be arriving with a slimmer chassis than the Moto Z Play from 2016. However, this would result in cutting down the size of the battery. The Moto Z2 Play that recently appeared on TENAA confirmed that it would be coming with a 2,820mAh battery. However, a Lenovo’s representative has revealed on Twitter that the phone would be coming with a 3,000mAh battery. Here is the tweet:

The Moto Z Play from last year has a 3,510mAh battery and a thickness of 7mm. However, TENAA listing has revealed that the Z2 Play has a thin profile of 5.99mm. It is likely that the rated size of Z2 Play’s battery is 3,000mAh but its real size would be 2,820mAh. Since the Chinese firm is drastically reducing the size of the battery on Moto Z2 Play, it is likely that the Snapdragon 626 SoC of the phone would be able to deliver improved battery performance.
The TENAA listing of the phone states that it has 5.5-inch IPS screen supporting FHD resolution, 4 GB RAM, 64 GB inbuilt storage, 12-megapxiel rear camera and 5-megapixel front camera enabled LED flash, Android 7.1.2 Nougat OS and support for Moto Mods accessories. The Moto Z2 Play release date is speculated as June 8.
