After much rumors and speculations, the highly-anticipated Motorola Edge and Edge+ have finally been unwrapped today during an online launch event. As expected, the Motorola Edge will be a premium mid-ranger smartphone, while the Motorola Edge+ will be a flagship model. Both devices will be able to support 5G connectivity out of the box.
Motorola Edge+ Specifications
Let’s begin with the most powerful and also the most expensive model – Motorola Edge+. This device offers an “Endless Edge” OLED display which measures approximately 6.7-inches diagonally. It has a FHD+ screen resolution and offers an impressive 90Hz screen refresh rate as well as HRD10+ support. Moreover, the hole-punched compartment on the front display also houses a 25 megapixels selfie camera as well.
Speaking of camera, the Motorola Edge+ features a triple-camera setup at the back which consists of a 108 megapixels main snapper, 16 megapixels ultra-wide lens, as well as an 8 megapixels telephoto lens. Its main camera makes use of 4-in-1 pixel binning technology to deliver 27MP photos. The telephoto lens on the other hand, is able to achieve up to 3x optical zoom as well. Finally, the rear cameras will also be assisted with a ToF module.
Under the hood, the Motorola Edge+ is driven by the latest Snapdragon 865 platform coupled with 12GB LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB UFS 3.0 flash storage. The device is fueled by a gargantuan 5,000mAh battery which support up to 18W fast-charging. Its also worth noting that the Edge+ is capable of supporting up to 15W wireless charging and 5W reverse charging too.
For those who’re interested, the Motorola Edge+ will be offered in two different colorways including Thunder Grey and Smoky Sangria. As for its pricing, the device will be priced at €1,199 in the global market.
Motorola Edge Specifications
As mentioned earlier, the Motorola Edge will be a slightly watered-down model. Although it has an identical 6.7-inches FHD+ OLED front display, but it lacks support for HDR10+. It will be maintaining the same 25 megapixels selfie camera.
Over at the back, the Motorola Edge has a toned-down triple-camera system which comprises of a 64 megapixels main camera, 16 megapixels ultra-wide lens, as well as an 8 megapixels telephoto lens. Unlike the Edge+, the telephoto lens on this device is able to achieve only up to 2x optical zoom. A ToF sensor will still be present at the back.
Moving on to its internal, the device will be powered by a Snapdragon 765 platform instead. It will come with a 4GB/ 6GB RAM capacity which depends whether the device is a global model or a North American model. Storage-wise, its capacity has been halved to just 128GB.
Needless to say, it will also come with a smaller 4,500mAh battery which will still be maintaining the same 18W fast-charging support. However, wireless and reverse charging will be absent on this device.
For those who’re interested, the Motorola Edge will be offered in two color options including Midnight Magenta and Solar Black. The device will be priced at €599 in the global market.
