Motorola’s book-style foldable could be in works

While Motorola has been launching fly-style foldable phones for many years, it hasn’t launched a horizontally foldable phone. It appears that the brand may soon announce a book-style foldable after a new CES 2026 invitation began circulating online. While the invite does not explicitly confirm any device, it sets the stage for what could be one of Motorola’s most notable announcements in recent years.

Several journalists, including Alex Maxham from Android Headlines, received a holiday gift package that contained a wooden flip book and an invitation referencing Lenovo Tech World on January 6. The line printed on the notepad, stating that every fold opens a new possibility, suggests that Motorola is preparing a new form factor.

The messaging strongly hints at a book-style foldable rather than another Razr clamshell, especially since the Razr 70 series is still expected later in 2026. The shift would mark the company’s first entry into a segment currently dominated by Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold series and Google’s Pixel Fold line.

This development arrives as Motorola is also said to be working on its next premium slab phone, widely referred to as the Edge 70 Ultra. The device is expected to feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset, placing it above the Edge 70 and Edge 60 Pro in the brand’s hierarchy. However, the spotlight has now shifted to the teased foldable, which appears to be aimed at users looking for a larger display for productivity and entertainment. If the device indeed launches in January, it will likely compete with the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and the Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold.

With Motorola linking this teaser to Lenovo Tech World, it appears that the mysterious device will be showcased at the CES 2026 tech exhibition.
