Mysterious ZenFone 5 Series Phone with Model Number ASUS_X00QD Gets Wi-Fi Certified

ASUS is reportedly working on ZenFone 5 series smartphone. One of them could be having a model number of ASUS_X00QD as it has bagged Wi-Fi certification from Wi-Fi Alliance.

The Wi-Fi Alliance listing of ASUS_X00QD suggests that it carries support for Wi-Fi 802.11ac which indicates that it could be upper mid-range or a high-end smartphone. Also, it is running on Android 8.0 Oreo OS. Earlier in this week, the alleged ZenFone 5 Lite mid-range phone had received certification in Russia.

The certification of the ZenFone 5 Lite revealed that it has a model number of ZC600KL. It is speculated that the Snapdragon chipset is present under the hood of the phone and it houses a 6-inch display that supports 18:9 aspect ratio.

ASUS will be present at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2018 tech exhibition at Barcelona, Spain in the coming month. In September last year, ASUE CEO Jerry Shen had confirmed that the ASUS ZenFone 5 smartphones will be released as early as March this year. Hence, there is a possibility that ZenFone 5 series phones will get unveiled at MWC 2018 or the company may hold a dedicated launch for it in March this year.
