Japanese tech giant NEC has announced a new high-end Android tablet known as the LAVIE Tab T12 that aims to provide a premium productivity experience to it’s users. In terms of specs, this model appears to share a good amount of similarities as the Lenovo Tab P12 Pro that was launched last year.
Starting with the front, the NEC LAVIE Tab T12 builds around a 12.6” AMOLED display that offers a sharp 2560 x 1600 pixels screen resolution along with a smooth 129Hz refresh rate that makes scrolling and animation appears more fluid on the screen.
At the back, the slate dons a Storm Grey paintjob on it’s aluminium alloy backplate . For photography, it sports a pill-shaped camera housing comprising of a 13 megapixels main camera and a 5 megapixels ultra-wide unit. This will be rounded out by an 8 megapixels front-facing camera for selfie and video call.
Like any other high-end tablets, the NEC LAVIE Tab T12 also carries support for a magnetic keyboard cover, stand cover, as well as a digital stylus. On top of that, it also features a quad-speaker system with Dolby ATMOS support.
Under the hood, it’s powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 mobile platform which was also found in other prominent models such as the Huawei MatePad Pro 10.8 2021 (Review). This will be paired with 8GB LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB UFS 3.1 storage which supports expansion via a microSD card.
To keep it’s lights on, the NEC LAVIE Tab T12 is backed by a respectable 10,200mAh battery with no mention of any form of fast-charging support. Software-wise, the tablet will be shipped with Android 11 OS out of the box.
For those who’re interested, the NEC LAVIE Tab T12 is priced at 96,580 Yen (US$845) in the Japanese market. At the moment, there’s no words whether it will be making it’s way to the global market.
