During an online questionnaire with fans last week, Meizu’s Senior VP Li Nan had revealed some juicy information about the company’s upcoming Meizu M3x successor. According to him, the next Meizu M3X will be flagship-grade model with greatly improved specifications from the current one.
Meizu M3x (2016)
With Mediatek announcing that the company will not be manufacturing anymore high-end chips for the next one or two years, there are reports speculating that the new M3X may be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon processor instead. This is quite expected given that the Chinese company had already settled their patent dispute with Qualcomm and had also earlier hinted that they will be equipping more smartphones with Snapdragon-based SoC.
Other than that, Li Nan also hinted that the new Meizu M3X may cost as much as 2,499 Yuan ($380) next time round. Although this price tag is still consider relatively cheap compared to other flagship devices, but we have to keep in mind that the current M3X cost only 1,699 Yuan – which equates that to a 800 Yuan price hike for the new model.
This move of course, may be part of the company’s effort to increase their market shares in the high-end smartphone market in China which is currently dominated by other major players including OPPO, Xiaomi, as well as Huawei. If nothing goes wrong, Meizu may be unveiling at least 2 other high-end models next year including the Meizu 15 Plus and the Meizu Pro 8.
