Nothing Phone 2 Could be Equipped with Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 Chipset

Nothing recently confirmed that its next smartphone will be “more premium” than its first phone, which came out last year. To recall, Phone (1) was an upper mid-range phone with a Snapdragon 778G. It was recently confirmed during the MWC 2023 that the Phone (2) will have the Snapdragon 8-series chipset. It appears that Qualcomm’s SVP and GM of Mobile, Compute, and XR business unit, Alex Katouzian, has inadvertently confirmed the name of the chip that will power the Phone (2).

A screengrab from 91mobiles shows that Katouzian congratulated the Nothing Team on LinkedIn for the launch of Phone (2). As can be seen, he also mentioned that the device is equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 chipset. The LinkedIn post has been removed, which indicates that he may have posted it erroneously.

Other reports have revealed that the Phone (2) has the A065 model number. It is likely that the device may sport an enhanced version of the Glyph interface LED light system, which was made available on the original phone.

Speculations are rife that the Nothing Phone (2) will have an AMOLED display that will offer an FHD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. The Phone (1) featured a 6.43-inch AMOLED FHD+ 90Hz screen. It is likely that the Phone (2) will have a larger display.

The Phone (2) is likely to arrive with 12 GB of RAM, 256 GB of built-in storage, and support for virtual RAM. It is expected to pack a 5,000mAh battery and is likely to run on Android 13 OS with NothingOS UI on top.
