Brand Nothing entered the smartphone market last year by launching the Nothing Phone (1). This year, the Nothing Phone (2) was announced with a more powerful Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset. There have been vague reports that the brand could be working on a new model dubbed the Nothing Phone 2a.
The global X.com account of Nothing states that it will announce something this week. While there is no official confirmation yet, it is speculated that the brand may make an announcement related to the Nothing Phone 2a.
The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) recently certified a Nothing phone with model number AIN142. It is likely that this device will have the Nothing Phone 2a branding when it debuts on the market.
According to leaks, the Nothing Phone 2a will have a 6.7-inch AMOLED display with a centrally positioned punch-hole. The back panel of the device will have the Glyph interface LED system like the existing Nothing smartphones.
In addition, the device is said to be equipped with a 16-megapixel front camera and a 50-megapixel dual-camera setup with OIS support on the back. There is no information about the chipset, RAM, or storage of the device, but it is said to be equipped with a 4,920mAh battery. It is expected to run on Nothing OS 2.5-based Android 14.
The rumored Phone 2a branding suggests that it could be a mid-range offering. At present, the Phone 2 is available with a starting price of Rs 39,999 ($480) in India. The Phone 2a could likely be priced at around Rs 30,000 ($360) in the country.
