Besides launching the ROG Phone 6 Batman Edition smartphone, ASUS has also announced another high-end gaming-centric smartphone dubbed as the ROG Phone 6D Ultimate in the global market. However, this device shares largely similar specs as the June-announced ROG Phone 6 Pro except for the differences in it’s underlying chipset as well as cooling system.
For starter, the new ROG Phone 6D Ultimate builds around the same 6.78” OLED display with FHD+ screen resolution, 10-bit color depth, HDR10+ support as well as an ultra-fast165Hz refresh rate for a truly smooth and immersive gaming experience. Likewise, it also retains the ultrasonic shoulder buttons that will come in handy in FPS game titles.
Imaging on the ROG Phone 6D Ultimate is handled by a trio of cameras comprising of a 50 megapixels main camera, 13 megapixels ultra-wide camera as well as a 5 megapixels macro unit for close-up shots. This will be rounded out by a 12 megapixels front-facing camera for selfies and video calls.
Under the hood, the ROG Phone 6D is powered by an octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 9000+ chipset instead of the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset that was used on the ROG Phone 6 Pro. This will be supplemented with up to 16GB RAM and 512GB onboard storage in the memory department.
Anyway, one of the biggest highlight here is perhaps the advanced GameCool 6 (clip-on) cooling system which incorporates three different approaches to cooling as to improve stability for demanding games. This include the unique AeroActive Portal that routes cooling airflow from the AeroActive Cooler 6 direct to the interior of ROG Phone 6D Ultimate, dissipating heat directly for industry-leading thermal efficiency.
Keeping it’s lights on is a respectable 6,000mAh battery which carries support for 67W fast wired charging which tops via USB power delivery. Software-side, the phone will be shipped with Android 12 OS out of the box. In the U.K. market, the ROG Phone 6D Ultimate will come with a starting price of £1,199 ($1,372).
