Android Phones Honor News

Official: Honor 70 Pro & 70 Pro+ debut with MediaTek Dimensity chipsets & new 54MP Sony IMX800 camera

Following the success of the Honor 60 series smartphones, Honor is now back with the brand new Honor 70 series smartphones in the global market which not only comes with a (slightly) revamped design, but also vastly upgraded specs which set the phones apart from the previous generation’s.

Honor 70 Pro+

Starting with the highest-end model, the new Honor 70 Pro+ builds around a 6.78” OLED display offering a FHD+ screen resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, as well as support for 10-bit color depth. Here, one of the key highlight lies in the adoption of ”Vivid HDR” format which promises a more immersive viewing experience for it’s users.

Over on the rear side, the Honor 70 Pro+ features a dual camera ring which houses a triple-cam system headlined by the latest 54MP Sony IMX800 imaging sensor (main camera) which has a relatively large 1/1.49” sensor size and a 1 micrometer pixel size.

As for the other two cameras, they include a 50 megapixels ultra-wide unit for landscape photography as well as an 8 megapixels telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom. To help with selfies and video calls on the device, the phone relies on another 50 megapixels camera housed within a centered punch-hole camera cutout along the forehead area of it’s front display.

Under the hood, the Honor 70 Pro+ is powered by an octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 9000 chipset which will be paired with up to 12GB RAM and 256GB onboard storage in the memory department.

Keeping it’s lights on is a respectable 4,600mAh battery which carries support for 100W fast-charging that’s capable of achieving a 0 to 100% sprint in merely 30 minutes. As usual, the phone will be shipped with Magic UI 6.1 based on Android 12 OS out of the box.

Those who’re interested in the Honor 70 Pro+ can pick the phone from three different colorways such as Black, Green and Gold. The device will be priced at 4,299 Yuan (US$645) and 4,599 Yuan (US$690) respectively for it’s 8GB+256GB and 12GB+256GB variants.

Honor 70 Pro

Moving on to the Honor 70 Pro, this model shares largely similar specs as the Pro+ model except for the difference in chipset whereby the phone is powered by a slightly toned-down MediaTek Dimensity 8000 chipset instead of the Dimensity 9000 platform that was used on the higher-end model. Other than that, it features an entirely similar display, cameras and battery as the Honor 70 Pro+.

In terms of pricing, the Honor 70 Pro is priced starting at 3,699 Yuan (US$555) for it’s 8GB+256GB base model and goes up to 4,399 Yuan (US$660) for the top-of-the-line model featuring 12GB RAM and 512GB storage.
