Motorola has officially unveiled the new Edge (2022) smartphone in the global market that comes with a slight redesign as well as some notable upgrades over last year’s model. As usual, this will be a mid-range model that will take on the likes of some upcoming models such as the Vivo V25 Pro.
Right off the bat, the new Motorola Edge (2022) builds around a 6.6” OLED panel which offers a FHD+ screen resolution along with an ultra-fast 144Hz refresh rate. This is certainly a nice upgrade over last year’s LCD panel, though the screen is a tad smaller this time round. Other than that, it also supports other advanced features such as HDR10+ support for a more immersive viewing experience.
Coming to the imaging front, the Motorola Edge (2022) features a triple rear camera system comprising of a 50 megapixels main camera, 13 megapixels ultra-wide camera, as well as a 2 megapixels depth unit for portrait shots. This will be rounded out by a 32 megapixels front-facing camera for selfies and video calls.
Under the hood, the Motorola Edge (2022) in the first smartphone to be powered by the latest MediaTek Dimensity 1050 chipset which will be paired with 8GB RAM and 256GB onboard storage in the memory department. However, the phone the same 5,000mAh battery and 30W TurboPower charging as the preceding model, though it now supports 15W wireless charging as well.
Software-wise, the Motorola Edge (2022) will be shipped with Motoroia’s My UX based on Android 12 OS out of the box. Other key highlights of the phone also include the presence of an in-display fingerprint scanner as well as a dual speaker system with Dolby Atomos support.
At the moment, the Motorola Edge (2022) is launched in a single colorway though the phone might be available in some other colors in the near future. Also, Motorola has yet to officially confirm it’s pricing and availability but we can be sure to learn more about them in the upcoming weeks.
