After launching the OPPO A77s smartphone back in October last year, OPPO is now back with the new OPPO A78 5G in the global market with Malaysia being it’s first destination. Besides Malaysia, the same device is also expected to launch in the Indian market on January 16th next week.
Right off the bat, the new OPPO A78 5G builds around a 6.56” IPS LCD display featuring a HD+ screen resolution along with a fast 90Hz refresh rate. For selfies and video calls, the phone relies on an 8 megapixels front-facing camera housed in a waterdrop-notch.
Over on the rear side, the OPPO A78 5G features a dual-ring camera design which houses a pair of cameras including a 50 megapixels (f/1.8 aperture) main unit as well as a 2 megapixels (f/2.4 aperture) depth sensor to help with portrait shots.
Under the hood, the OPPO A78 5G is powered by an octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 700 chipset coupled with 8GB RAM and 128GB onboard storage that supports further expansion via a microSD card.
To keep it’s lights on, the OPPO A78 5G is backed by a respectable 5,000mAh battery which carries support for 33W fast wired charging. Software-wise, the phone will be shipped with ColorOS 13 based on Android 13 OS.
For those who’re interested, the OPPO A78 5G is available in two different colorways such as Glowing Black and Glowing Purple. It’ll be priced at just RM1,099 ($254) for the 8GB+128GB trim in the Malaysian market.
