Following the success of the Reno8 series smartphones, OPPO is now back with the all-new Reno9 series smartphones which was unveiled during a high-profile launch event held in China yesterday. As expected, a total of three models were announced including the Reno9 5G, Reno9 Pro 5G, as well as the top-of-the-line Reno9 Pro+. Without further ado, let’s check out what the new devices have in store for us!
OPPO Reno9 Pro+
Starting with the highest-end model, the OPPO Reno9 Pro+ features a 6.7” AMOLED display with FHD+ screen resolution along with a fast 120Hz refresh rate. On top of that, it also supports other high-end features including 10-bit color depth, HDR10+, as well as an impressive peak brightness that goes up to 950 nits.
On the imaging front, the Reno9 Pro+ sports a triple rear camera system lead by a 50 megapixels (f/1.8 aperture) main camera that sits behind a 6P lens. This will be accompanied by an 8 megapixels ultra-wide camera as well as a 2 megapixels depth sensing unit to help with portrait shots.
Under the hood, the OPPO Reno9 Pro+ is powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset which will be supplemented by the company’s in-house MariSilicon X NPU which plays an important role in improving image and video quality taken by the cameras. Other than that, it’ll also be paired with 16GB RAM as well as an option between 256GB or 512GB onboard storage in the memory department.
Keeping it’s lights on will be a respectable 4,700mAh battery which carries support for 80W fast wired charging. As usual, there won’t be any form of wireless or reverse charging onboard as these features remain exclusive to the company’s Find X series smartphones.
Those who’re interested can pick the phone from three different colorways such as Black, Gold and Mint. Pricing for the Reno9 Pro+ starts from 3,999 Yuan ($560) for the 16GB+256GB base model and goes up to 4,399 Yuan ($616) for the higher-end model with 16GB RAM and 512GB storage.
OPPO Reno9 Pro
Moving on to the Reno9 Pro, this model shares the same 6.7” FHD+ AMOLED display as the Reno9 Pro+, including a fast 120Hz refresh rate. While it keeps the same 32 megapixels selfie camera as the Reno9 Pro+, but it only has two rear cameras instead of three.
More specifically, the Reno9 Pro lacks the 2 megapixels depth sensing unit but retains the same 50MP main camera as well as 8 megapixels ultra-wide unit which has a slightly narrower 112-degree field-of-view (vs 120-degree on the Reno9 Pro+).
Unlike the Pro+ model, the Reno9 Pro is powered by an octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 8100-MAX which will be coupled with 16GB RAM and up to 512GB onboard storage in the memory department. It also features a large 4,500mAh battery which supports s slightly slower 67W charging speed.
The OPPO Reno9 Pro will be available in three different colors such as Black, Gold, and Pink Gradient. Pricing for the phone starts from 3,499 Yuan ($490) for the 16GB+256GB model and goes up to 3,799 Yuan ($532) for the 16GB+512GB variant.
OPPO Reno9
Last but not the least, we have the vanilla OPPO Reno9 that comes with an identical 6.7” AMOLED display and 32MP selfie camera as the rest of the Reno9 Pro devices. Photography-wise, the OPPO Reno9 has a pair of rear cameras which now features a downgraded 64MP main camera instead of the 50MP Sony IMX890 camera that was used on the Reno9 Pro. Likewise, the 8MP ultra-wide camera has also been swapped with a 2MP monochrome unit as well.
At the helm, the OPPO Reno9 is powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 778G chipset which lacks 5G support. It’ll be paired with an option between 8GB/ 12GB RAM and 256GB/ 512GB onboard storage in the memory department. Rounding out the package will be a 4,500mAh battery with 67W fast-charging support.
OPPO launches the Reno9 in four different colorways such as Black, Gold, Pink Gradient, and Red. The phone will be priced starting from 2,499 Yuan ($350) for the 8GB+256GB model and goes up to 2,999 Yuan ($350) for the higher-end model with 12GB RAM and 512GB storage.
