POCO has officially announced the new POCO M5 and M5s in the global market which will be succeeding it’s renowned M4 series smartphones which was first introduced back in 2021.
These are entry-level devices that are targeted more toward the budget conscious consumers, though the company is likely to announce a slightly better specced model dubbed as the POCO M5 Pro on a later date.
POCO M5
Starting with the more affordable model, the POCO M5 features a 6.58” LCD display with FHD+ screen resolution, 90Hz refresh rate, as well as a 5 megapixels front-facing camera to help with selfies and video calls.
Speaking of photography, the POCO M5 sports a triple rear camera system comprising of a 50 megapixels main camera and a pair of 2 megapixels cameras for macro and depth information.
Under the hood, the phone is powered by an octa-core MediaTek Helio G99 chipset which will be paired with an option between 4GB/ 6GB RAM as well as 64GB/ 128GB onboard storage which can be further expanded via a microSD card.
To keep it’s lights on, the device is backed by a respectable 5,000mAh battery which carries support for 18W fast-charging. As usual, the phone will be shipped with MIUI 13 based on Android 12 OS out of the box.
For those who’re interested the POCO M5 is available in a trio of colors such as Black, Green and POCO Yellow. Pricing for the phone will start from €189 for the 4GB+64GB base model and goes up to €229 for the top-of-the-line model featuring 6GB RAM and 128GB storage.

POCO M5s
Moving on to the POCO M5s, it comes with a more vibrant 6.43” AMOLED display which features the same FHD+ screen resolution but drops the refresh rate to 60Hz. As for the front-facing camera, it was upgraded to a 13 megapixels sensor instead.
Unlike the POCO M5, the M5s comes with a quad-camera setup which is lead by a 64 megapixels main camera instead. This will be accompanied by an 8 megapixels ultra-wide camera and a pair of 2 megapixels macro and depth cameras.
Interestingly, the phone is powered by a slightly older MediaTek Helio G95 chipset which will also be paired with up to 6GB RAM and 128GB expandable storage in the memory department. Keeping it’s lights on will be a respectable 5,000mAh battery with 33W fast-charging support.
The POCO M5s is available in three different colors such as Grey, White, and Blue. It’ll be priced starting from €209 for the 4GB+64GB model and up to €249 for the higher-end model with 6GB+128GB configuration.
