Official: Vivo launches the new X Fold+ foldable with upgraded chipset & faster charging speed

After launching it’s first-ever foldable smartphone back in April this year, Vivo is now back with a follow-up model dubbed as the Vivo X Fold+ in it’s domestic market which packs an upgraded chipset along with a slightly larger battery and faster charging speed.

On the outside, the new Vivo X Fold+ shares an identical design as the earlier model, except it comes with a new Red color option that features a faux leather rear panel. As such, it’ll retain the same inward-folding design which features a 6.53” outer display which builds around a user-friendly 18:9 aspect ratio. Speaking about the display, it’s based on an AMOLED panel with FHD+ screen resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, as well as HDR10+ support.

Unfolding the phone would lead us to a spacious 8.03” display with an unique 4:3.5 landscape aspect ratio which allows users to experience a tablet-like experience on the device for better productivity.

For the inner display, it switched over to an upgraded LTPO AMOLED panel which offers an even shaper QHD+ screen resolution as well as support for HDR10+ and 113% DCI-P3 color gamut coverage. Although the inner display retains the same 120Hz adaptive refresh rate, but it’s able to go all the way down to 1Hz thanks to adoption of a LTPO panel.

On the imaging side, the Vivo X Fold features an advance quad-camera system co-developed by Zeiss. These cameras include a 50 megapixels main camera, 48 megapixels ultra-wide camera, 12 megapixels portrait camera, as well as a 5 megapixels periscope telephoto unit which offers 5x optical zoom and up to 60x digital zoom.

Under the hood, the Vivo X Fold+ is powered by the latest Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset which which will be paired with 12GB RAM and up to 512GB onboard storage in the memory department. Also, it’ll come with a larger 4,730mAh battery which carries support for a comparatively faster 80W wired charging speed. Wireless charging on the other hand, remains unchanged at 50W.

In the Chinese market, the Vivo X Note+ is priced starting at 9,999 Yuan (US$1,400) for it’s 12GB+256GB trim and goes up to 10,999 Yuan (US$1,540) for the top-of-the-line model with 12GB+512GB memory configuration.
