Following the success of last year’s Redmi Note 11 series smartphones, Xiaomi is now back with the next-generation’s Redmi Note 12 series that brings along several noteworthy upgrades including an upgraded camera system as well as an even faster charging speed. Without further ado, let’s check out what the new devices have in store for us!
Redmi Note 12 Pro & Pro+
Starting with the highest-end models, the new Redmi Note 11 Pro and Pro+ come with a 6.67” OLED display sporting a FHD+ screen resolution along with a fast 120Hz refresh rate. For selfies and video calls, both phones has a 16 megapixels front-facing camera that sits within a centered hole-punched cutout.
Speaking of photography, the Redmi Note 12 Pro devices feature a total of three cameras on the rear side. The Pro+ model obviously has an edge in this aspect as the phone adopts a 200MP Samsung ISCOELL HPX sensor for the main camera instead of the 50MP Sony IMX766 sensor that was used on the Note 12 Pro.
This naturally means that the Pro+ model is able to capture shaper details and performs comparatively better in low-light condition. As for the other two cameras, both devices actually share the same 8 megapixels ultra-wide camera for landscape photography as well as a 2 megapixels depth sensing unit for portrait shots.
Under the hood, the Redmi Note 12 Pro and Pro+ are powered by MediaTek’s Dimensity 1080 chipset which will be paired with up to 12GB RAM and 256GB onboard storage in the memory department. As usual, there won’t be any microSD support for memory expansion.
To keep the lights on, both devices are backed by a respectable 5,000mAh battery at the helm. The only difference lies in their charging speed whereby the Pro+ model gets a faster 120W charging speed while the Pro model settles with just 67W fast-charging.
For those who’re interested, pricing for the Redmi Note 12 Pro+ start from just 2,199 Yuan ($304) for it’s 8GB+256GB base model and goes up to 2,399 Yuan ($332) for the top-of-the-line model with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage.
The Redmi Note 12 Pro on the other hand, comes with a more affordable starting price of just 1,699 Yuan ($235) for the 6GB+128GB model and goes up to 2,199 Yuan ($304) for the higher-end 12GB+256GB model.
Redmi Note 12 5G
Moving on to the Redmi Note 12 5G, this device comes with the same 6.67” FHD+ OLED display with 120Hz refresh rate. However, it only has two rear cameras comprising of a 48 megapixels main camera and a 2 megapixels depth sensor. Likewise, it’s selfie camera has also been downgraded from 16 megapixels to 8 megapixels instead.
Sitting at the heart of the phone is the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 chipset which was also used by the newly announced iQOO Z6 Lite. This will be paired with up to 8GB RAM and 256GB onboard storage in the memory department. Keeping it’s lights on is the same 5,000mAh battery which carries a much slower 33W wired charging speed.
Pricing for the Redmi Note 12 5G kicks off from just 1,199 Yuan ($165) for the 4GB+128GB trim and goes up to 1,699 Yuan ($235) for the maxed out model with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage.
