OnePlus CEO Pete Lau had released the first official image of the OnePlus 6 smartphone in the previous. It had revealed that the notched enabled screen of OP6 would be delivering a very high screen-to-body ratio. However, Lau’s newest post on OnePlus forums states that OnePlus will offer an option to hide the notch on OnePlus 6.
Lau has confirmed that the company will be releasing a software update that will provide user with an option to hide the notch on the OnePlus 6. This will be done by darkening the either sides of the notch to make it appear like a regular bezel.
Lau claims that the company had initially thought of adding the feature on the OP6, but later on excluded it to provide users with a very large screen space. However, after considering the feedback of the OnePlus fans, the company has decided to release a black-out feature.
It seems that the company take a call on it after negative response from the audience on the official image that was released last week. As of this writing, there is no confirmation on the launch date of OnePlus 6. However, Lau had confirmed earlier that OP6 would be announced by June. The Chinese manufacturer has also recently confirmed that the Snapdragon 845 chipset will be powering the phone and it will be arriving with 8 GB of RAM and a native storage of 256 GB.
