During the Mobile World Congress Shanghai, OnePlus CEO Pete Lau revealed a new feature that may arrive on the 2019 OnePlus flagship phone. Also, he confirmed that the smartphone would be made available through the mobile operators in the U.S.
OnePlus smartphones are usually sold unlocked in the country. However, now that the company is looking for carrier partners, the alleged OnePlus 7 may reach wider market in the U.S. Lau has confirmed that the 2019 OnePlus flagship will be carrying support for 5G connectivity. He added that the company’s good relations with Qualcomm will allow it to become one of the first 5G smartphones in the coming year.
Lau stated that the company will ensure that the OnePlus smartphones that will be made available through the U.S. mobile operators won’t include bloatware.
There is no information available on the specifications of the OnePlus 7. Most flagship phones arriving next year will be powered the 7nm Snapdragon 855 chipset. Hence, there is a possibility that the same SoC would be powering the smartphone. Sibling brands like Oppo and Vivo have introduced innovative features on their recent flagships such as Vivo NEX and Oppo Find X. Hence, the OnePlus 7 may also feature under-display fingerprint scanner and pop-up selfie snapper.
