OnePlus has recently launched the OnePlus 8T flagship phone in multiple markets and the rumor mill has already started talking about the OnePlus 9 series of flagship phones that is expected to debut next month. Yesterday, a tipster revealed that the upcoming OnePlus 9 is codenamed as Lemonade. Today, a fresh report by Android Central claims that the OnePlus 9 series will debut in March 2021.
Since the past few years, OnePlus has been launching its flagship phones in May. This year, it announced the OnePlus 8 series earlier in April. While OnePlus has not settled on a launch date for the OnePlus 9 series, the publication has learned from an insider that it could be debuting in mid-March next year.
OnePlus is not the only smartphone brand that is planning to launch its upcoming flagship phone early in 2021. Recent reports have revealed that Samsung could be launching the Galaxy S21 series in January, which means it could debut a full month earlier than the predecessor models.
The early launch for the OnePlus 9 series will provide enough time gap between the upgraded T-series phones that arrive in the second half of the year. Early arrival of the OnePlus 9 series also hints that the company is aiming to rival with the likes of Samsung and Xiaomi.
At present, there is no word on the specifications of the OnePlus 9 series. The lineup may include the OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro smartphones. Both devices could be fueled by the Snapdragon 875 chipset. These phones are likely to arrive with support for Warp Charge 65 fast charging technology that was introduced with the OnePlus 8T.
