Last month, Android Central reported that OnePlus will soon be launching a brand new ”upper” mid-range phone dubbed as the OnePlus 9 RT which is likely to debut somewhere in October next month.
Now, courtesy of well-accredited leaker Steve Hemmerstoffer, we finally have a tentative launch date for the OnePlus 9RT – October 15th – which you can safely mark down on your calendar.
Based on what we’d learned from past reports, the OnePlus 9RT is expected to be based largely upon the current OnePlus 9R that was launched back in April this year.
As such, we’ll probably be looking at some familiar specs like a 6.55” FHD+ AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate, as well as a similar 4,500mAh battery with 65W fast-wired charging.
What’s really different however, is that the OnePlus 9 RT is said to be coming with a ‘higher-binned version’ of the Snapdragon 870, and will be swapping the 48MP Sony IMX586 sensor (found in the OnePlus 9R) for a 50MP Sony IMX766 sensor that’s found in the OnePlus 9 series phones.
Aside from that, it was also reported that the OnePlus 9RT will be the first OnePlus phone to be shipped with OxygenOS 12 based on Android 12 out of the box.
As with the case of the current OnePlus 9R, the forthcoming OnePlus 9 RT is expected to be launched only in the Chinese and Indian market. Therefore, it’s unlikely that we’ll be looking at a global launch this time round.
