After all the anticipations, OnePlus has finally confirmed that the company’s upcoming OnePlus 9 flagship series will be launched globally on March 23rd later this month.
This time round, OnePlus is expected to unveil at least two models during the upcoming launch event including the vanilla OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro. Although there’s also a more affordable model dubbed as the OnePlus 9R/ 9E, but its not known for sure whether this device will be launched alongside the OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro duo.
As you may have already heard, OnePlus has partnered with Swedish photography giant Hasselblad to jointly develop the camera system of the upcoming OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro devices which will potentially allow them to match up with other market heavyweights like Samsung Galaxy S series and Huawei P series smartphones.
Although the eventual outcome of this partnership remain to be seen, but the OnePlus 9 series smartphones already look promising based on the preliminary detailing of their camera system.
According to OnePlus, the OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro will be equipped with the custom Sony IMX789 sensor for the main camera which is said to be “the largest and most advanced main camera sensor ever on a OnePlus device”.
Furthermore, the custom sensor is also able to support 12-bit RAW images which are able to deliver “more dynamic and vibrant colors in pictures and giving professional photographers more room for additional post editing”.
Some other notable highlights of its camera system also include a “panoramic camera with a 140-degree field of view, T-lens technology for lightning-fast focus in the front-facing camera, and a freeform lens (for its ultra-wide camera)”.
For videography, OnePlus also claimed that the “Hasselblad Camera for Mobile will also offer improved HDR video recording, as well as support for capturing 4K 120FPS and 8K 30FPS video”.
