Rumours are rife that Qualcomm will soon unveil the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 2 chipset as an overclocked version of the existing Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. In a new Weibo post, tipster Digital Chat Station has revealed the names of the first phones that will feature the SD8+G2 chipset.
According to the tipster, the OnePlus Ace 2 Pro, iQOO 11S, and Realme GT Neo 5 Pro will be the first smartphones to feature the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 2 chipset. If previous rumors are correct, all or some of these devices are expected to break cover in July in China.
Some reports have claimed that the OnePlus Ace 2 Pro will be rebranded as the OnePlus 11T in the global market. It is unclear whether the iQOO 11S and Realme GT Neo 5 Pro will be released globally.
The aforementioned Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 2-powered smartphones will rival the Redmi K60 Ultra, which is expected to debut around the same time in the Chinese market. The K60 Ultra is expected to feature the Dimensity 9200 Plus chipset.
The performance of the D9200+ is said to be better than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, but it is unlikely to surpass the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 2. The D9200+ was first seen on the iQOO Neo 8 Pro, which debuted last month. It is speculated that Vivo will launch the Vivo X90+ smartphone with the D9200+ onboard this month. After swapping the new chip, it is likely to have the same specs as the Vivo X90.
