Following all the rumors and leaks, OnePlus has finally confirmed that the company’s next Nord series smartphone – OnePlus Nord 2 – will be officially announced on July 22nd later this month.
The OnePlus Nord 2 as we know, will be the first OnePlus smartphone to be equipped with a MediaTek chipset, and is also the first in the world to feature a custom Dimensity 1200-AI chipset that comes with enhanced AI capabilities in the camera, display, as well as gaming aspects.
Though the OnePlus Nord 2 is still weeks away from it’s official launch, but we’d already learned pretty much everything we need to know about the phone ahead of it’s unveiling.
In terms of design, we’d seen from it’s CAD-based renderings that the upcoming OnePlus Nord 2 will look quite different from last year’s OnePlus Nord especially when it comes to it’s rear design which now looks more like what we saw among the OnePlus 9 series smartphones.
Furthermore, a close inspection on it’s renders also revealed that the phone will be arriving with three cameras at the back instead of a quad-camera setup like it’s predecessor. These will reportedly be a 50 megapixels main camera, 8 megapixels ultra-wide unit, as well as another 2 megapixels sensor which is likely to be used for macro shot or depth sensing.
On the frontside of the phone, the OnePlus Nord 2 is rumored to boasts a 6.53” AMOLED display that offers a FHD+ screen resolution and smooth 90Hz refresh rate. On top of that, it also features a hole-punch cutout on the upper-left corner of the screen which houses a 32 megapixels selfie shooter.
Apart from that, the OnePlus Nord 2 is also said to be equipped with a respectable 4,500mAh battery which carries support for 30W/ 65W fast-charging.
