OPPO is due to launch a new successor for last year’s OPPO A15, known as the OPPO A16, in the upcoming weeks. Ahead of it’s launch, we’d already gotten our first look at the phone last month via a series of official-looking renders.
Now, some of it’s official specs had also made it’s way to the web thanks to well-accredited leaker Evan Blass – the same leaker who previously published it’s renders.
According to the latest information published by Blass, the upcoming OPO A16 is expected to be powered by an octa-core MediaTek Helio G35 chipset, instead of the Helio P35 chipset used in it’s predecessor.
That’s more of a sidegrade rather than an upgrade since both chips offer pretty much the same performance for it’s users, though the Helio G35 chip tends tto perform slightly better in some aspects according to benchmarking platforms like AnTuTu and Geekbench.
Other than that, we also have confirmation that the phone will be equipped with a slightly larger 5,000mAh battery, as compared to the 4,230mAh battery used in last year’s model.
That’s pretty much all the information we have at the moment, though we had already been familiarized with it’s design. Just to recap, the OPPO A16 is expected to arrive with a dewdrop-notch upfront, and has a regular-looking rectangular camera housing at the back which is home to a triple-cam setup.
