OPPO A72 5G quietly goes official in China with MediaTek Dimensity 720

We’d already learned about the existence of the OPPO A72 5G for quite some time after the device made its appearance on both Chinese Telecom and Geekbench earlier this month.

Right now, this device has also been listed on one of the major Chinese retailer JD.com alongside its official renders and specs. It will be offered in a total of three different colorways including Black, Purple and Red.

According to its listing, the OPPO A72 5G will arrive with a 6.5-inches FHD+ LCD display which feature a nice 20:9 tall aspect ratio and a smooth 90Hz screen refresh rate. It will also be accompanied with a side-mounted fingerprint sensor.

For imaging, the device has a triple-camera setup housed within a squarish camera housing on the top-left corner. It will include a 16 megapixels main camera which is supported by another pair of unspecified camera sensors which are likely to include an ultra-wide lens, as well as a depth sensor. This will be rounded by by an 8 megapixels selfie camera at the front.

Under the hood, the OPPO A72 5G will be powered by the newly announced, 5G-ready MediaTek Dimensity 720 SoC. In fact, it is the first It will be paired alongside 8GB of RAM and 128GB onboard storage in the memory department.

At the helm, the device features a 4,040mAh battery which carries support for 18W fast-charging. As usual, it will run on the custom ColorOS 7.2 based on Android 10 OS.

In the Chinese market, the OPPO A72 5G is priced at 1,899 Yuan (US$271/ INR20,200) for its sole 8GB+128GB model. It will be up for pre-order from now till July 30th. After which, the device will go on sale on July 31st.
