Foldable smartphones used to be an extravagant luxury product that are twice or trice the price of a typical middle-range to high-end smartphone. Thankfully, increased competition in the foldable space over the past two years has significantly reduced the price of foldable smartphones, as new players such as OPPO and Xiaomi continue to churn out more affordable range of foldables that pack a punch despite costing less than a traditional flagship phone.
The new OPPO Find N2 Flip fits that description to a tee. Not only does it offers an unbeatable hardware, it also comes with a surprising low price of just $1,299 in Singapore – making it the cheapest foldable phone you can get in the local market. Pricing aside, here are five other big reasons why you should totally consider the new Find N2 Flip as you next smartphone.
A Whole New Mobile Experience
Gone are the days when you need a bulky smartphone to enjoy a large screen estate for work and entertainment. Foldable, or rather flip-style phones such as the OPPO Find N2 Flip totally changes the way we handle and interact with smartphone.
Their pocket-friendly size makes them easy to carry around compared to a typical glass slab, while offering an uncompromised smartphone experience when unfurled. Specifically for the OPPO Find N2 Flip, it’s larger-than-usual cover screen also allows users to do much more than other flip-style phones in the market.
For instance, users can easily control OPPO-branded earbuds such as the Enco X via the cover screen without having to launch it’s companion app, or set timer when doing workout. Most importantly, the larger screen estate also makes it easier to frame yourself when taking selfies with the rear cameras.
When unfolded, the Find N2 Flip features a spacious 6.8” AMOLED display which is among the largest among the flip-style phones. This not only makes it more enjoyable when watching movies or playing game, but also greatly improve multi-tasking experience on the device.
To tackle creasing issue on foldable smartphone, OPPO has developed an industry-leading Flexion Hinge crafted from aircraft-grade high-strength steel and polymer that makes it incredibly strong and slim. In fact, I could safely say that the crease itself is almost imperceptible in day-to-day usage, especially if you turn on system-wide dark mode.
Moreover, OPPO also claimed that the hinge system is able to withstand more than 400,000 folds based on it’s lab tests. If you do the math, that basically means the hinge system will remain strong even after 10 years, assuming that you fold the device 100 times a day.
Flexform Mode: Flex Your Hands-Free
To fully leverage the folding mechanism, the OPPO Find N2 Flip also comes with a customized “Flexform” mode that unlocks multiple new features such as FlexForm Camera, FlexForm Video Call and FlexForm Video Streaming when the screen is folded at an angle between 45 to 110-degrees.
In FlexForm Camera, the hinge system acts as a tripod to keep the camera steady, allowing user to take selfies without having to hold the phone using gesture controls. This eliminates the intrusive ”selfie arm” which often spoils a good-looking photo.
On the other hand, FlexForm Video Call makes it easier to do video call as you can simply rest the phone on the table, leaving your hands free for note-taking or a sip of coffee. Same for video streaming – you no longer need to hold the phone on hand when watching your favorite movie or drama in a cozy café.
Amazing Performance For Work & Play
Driven by an octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 9000+ chipset, the OPPO Find N2 Flip certainly has the firepower to deliver a smooth and responsive user experience in day-to-day usage. In fact, this is the same chipset which was also used on the gaming-centric ROG Phone 6D Ultimate smartphone.
As such, it doesn’t came much as a surprise that the Find N2 Flip makes a great gaming companion too, especially when paired with it’s spacious 120Hz display which never fails to offer a smooth and enriching gaming experience.
For work and productivity, the Find N2 Flip is backed by 8GB LPDDR5 RAM to support all the multi-tasking needs. That’s not forgetting that the phone is also loaded with a generous 256GB onboard storage which allows you to store plenty of files on the device.
Pro-Grade Camera System Co-Developed with Hasselblad
Moving on to another exciting aspect of the Find N2 Flip: it’s pro-grade camera system co-developed with Swedish photography giant Hasselblad. Despite having less camera(s) than other high-end devices, the Find N2 Flip’s dual-cam setup is able to handle all types of photography be it a beautiful portrait shot of your loved one or a detailed macro shot of a flower.
The two cameras at the back are lead by a 50MP main camera which uses the new Sony IMX890 imaging sensor that can also be found on some other notable smartphones such as the OnePlus 11R. In terms of image quality, photos captured by this camera are honestly comparable to those taken by other expensive flagship models.
Regardless of lighting conditions, photos taken by the camera look sharp and defined thanks to it’s high-res imaging sensor and a capable autofocusing system. Likewise, color reproduction and contrast are also excellent – resulting in photos that look flattering and yet natural.
Although the 8MP ultra-wide camera may be a step down from the 50MP main unit, but it’s still able to capture pretty good-looking photos especially in well-lit environment courtesy of it’s advanced AI enhancement which does a remarkable job in improving details and reducing image noise.
Exceptional, All-Day Battery Life
Battery life used to be one of the biggest concern among flip phones since they tend to pack a smaller battery (capacity) than a typical glass slab. Glad to say, that’s certainly not an issue on the Find N2 Flip which is equipped with a respectable 4,300mAh battery. For context, the Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Huawei P50 Pocket only have a capacity of 3,700mAh and 4,000mAh respectively.
On a typical workday, I was able to end off my day with around 20-30% battery remaining before I head to bed. That’s pretty similar to what I get on the OPPO Reno8 Pro 5G (Review). Anyway, the Find N2 Flip does comes with an in-box charging adapter, so you don’t have to worry about getting one just in case your currently one is faulty.
Speaking of charging, the OPPO Find N2 Flip charges really quickly too. It supports 44W SuperVOOC fast wired charging that’s capable of achieving a full charge from 0 to 100% in slightly under an hour.
