OPPO Find N5 tipped to launch in Q4, Find N5 Flip development halted

Last year, OPPO unveiled the OPPO Find N3 and Find N3 Flip foldable phones in different markets. The N3 was rebranded as the OnePlus Open in some markets like India and the US. Yesterday, OPPO released an official statement to debunk the rumors that claimed the company had decided to quit the foldable phone market. Tipster Chun has revealed exactly when to expect the Find N5.

According to the leaker, the OPPO Find N5 will be launching in the fourth quarter of this year. The leak suggests that the device was initially planned to launch in Q2 this year. However, its launch is said to have been delayed due to poor sales and overstocking of the Find N3 series.

A report by a popular market analyst claimed that the once-booming foldable phone market is currently experiencing a slowdown. Samsung, which is currently leading the foldable market, has reportedly lowered its 2023 shipment goal to 12 million units. It had initially set a target of 15 million units, but the company achieved 10 million units in sales last year.

The slowdown is particularly noticeable in China. Consumer interest in lower-margin foldable models from brands other than Huawei is waning. Major manufacturers Oppo and Vivo have reportedly put plans for 2024 foldable phone launches on hold. Hence, it appears that the Find N5 Flip and the Vivo X Flip 2 may not launch this year.

There is a possibility that the Find N5 may get rebranded as the OnePlus Open 2 in some markets. Hopefully, upcoming reports will shed light on the foldable phones from Oppo and Vivo.
